To tie in with Mother’s Day 2023, Film Noir UK showcases one of the great mother and son films!

James Cagney, Virginia Mayo, Margaret Wycherly and Edmond O'Brien star in this classic crime drama directed by Raoul Walsh. Cody Jarrett (Cagney) leads his gang, including his ‘Ma’ (Wycherly), to a mountain hideaway after a mail coach robbery ends with five men dead. With the law on the lookout for them, Cody falsely admits to a lesser crime committed at the same time in Illinois and goes there to serve his sentence.

Not convinced by his confession, the US Treasury sends undercover agent Hank Fallon (O'Brien) to act as Cody's cellmate in the hope of uncovering more information about his crimes. What Fallon  uncovers is more than just a standard thug but a ruthless outlaw with major mother issues!

White Heat showcases one of Cagney’s most memorable roles and would include one of the most famous closing sequences ever in the history of Hollywood.

Presented in partnership with Film Noir UK.

Special Introduction by Film Noir UK founder James Harrison.
