About the Event

Part of 20th Century Flicks' Forbidden Worlds Film Festival (13th - 15th May 2022)

Marking 40 years of Bristol's very own beloved video shop, 20th Century Flicks as well as marking 40 years of Blade Runner; Film Noir UK are thrilled to be able to take part in the Fordbidden Worlds Film Festival.

Perhaps more than any other film from 1982, Ridley Scott’s iconic sci-fi classic has gripped audiences and inspired passionate and fierce debate for the past 40 years. Based on the novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" by science fiction master Philip K Dick, Blade Runner is a haunting look at reality, memory and mortality set against the dystopian future of LA, 2019. All of which are infused with the essence of classic Film Noir.

Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) is exemplary as the world weary detective and former "blade runner" called out of retirement to hunt and kill four "replicants" led by Roy (Rutger Hauer). These genetically altered humans with superior strength and intellects have returned to earth on a killing spree, determined to meet their maker, Dr. Eldon Tyrell (Joe Turkel).

Deckard's investigation leads across the glittering heights and disintegrating depths of Ridley Scott's fantastically imagined metropolis - filled with pyramids, enormous neon billboards and spinner cars amid unimaginable overcrowding and a constant deluge of acid rain.

If you’ve never seen this sci-fi classic on the big screen, this is the perfect opportunity.

Please Note: This screening will be of the 2007 ‘Final Cut’ version, which more closely reflects Scott’s original vision of the film.
